The Ranger

April 23, 2009 by scottchampion

The 2000 Ford Ranger is amazing, v6. 4×4. 3.0l. Great off-road.  Plans include getting 31”

BFG All-Terrains.  Which may lead to a 4.10 gear to make up for the torque loss of a bigger tire. the 4.10 is a lower gear, so should be nice but installation may be a big cost. I’m definitely planning for a Gibson cat-back dual exhaust.  Possibly a cold air intake from K&N to follow. But a 3” body lift and brush guard are a must for maximum truckage.

DIY Film School : Part 1

March 3, 2009 by scottchampion

Starts with some good DVDs. No, not the new release section, the classics area: and there is some gold in there.  Here is my first set of studies:

Citizen Kane and Casablanca

Casablanca

Casablanca

And yes, I highly recommend both. For a good movie and a cinematic experience, especially C.K.  But over an hour of B&Ws has its own down side

Editing Unleashed

So I just finished a wedding edit. New record, 28 minutes long! Yay. So I am planning to do anther small short.  I cannot say if it will follow “They’re Coming” or not.  I have no idea.  But I am thinking and that is a good first step.  Just to get thinking I guess.  Something will be produced in a small form during the winter months. Get ready. The post house will be cooking.  A sidenote: My version of Final Cut, (Express 3.5 HD) is not supported by Apple now :( .  And has been for a while.  I likes to crash now and then and the $100 jump to Express 4 with virtually no benefits (and i lose a update to Livetype) doesn’t look inviting.  The educational price for Final Cut Studio 2 is nice, very very nice.  I am definitely thinking, and reading about Studio 2.  I Am not a huge fan of long post work and editing is not my calling, but I attended the Final Cut World Tour Chicago. And it is amazing, as Apple says: Editing Unleashed.

New Gear!

August 1, 2008 by scottchampion

Well to start off, I order all my gear through B&H in NY.  They are amazing, quick, and they are the biggest store around… so you can rely on them.  So, I ordered another battery, and an Azden SGM-1X Mic.  The Azden is a 12” Shotgun Mic for on-camera usage among others.  Great for Video, and it might almost be to big for my camera so we will see when it arrives. Hopefully a review to follow. :)  I got some other small things but those are the main pieces of gear.
